The INHABIT Study
Exploring the role of anthocyanins and probiotics on quality-of-life, inflammation and the gut microbiome in Ulcerative Colitis.
Researchers from the University of Wollongong are recruiting adults with Ulcerative Colitis for an exciting study to find out whether probiotics and anthocyanins from blackcurrants can benefit disease management and change the gut microbiome.
Why is this research important?
Ulcerative Colitis is a chronic disease that leads to chronic inflammation and a disrupted gut microbiome. There is a lot that remains unknown about how diet and nutrition can help to manage this disease. This study will investigate whether two nutritional supplements can improve disease symptoms, reduce inflammation, and benefit the gut microbiome in adults with Ulcerative Colitis.
