New Advanced Endoscopic In Vivo Imaging System – the first in New South Wales

The MRC has recently acquired the first state-of-the-art combined digital chromoendoscope and confocal laser endomicroscope in New South Wales. The chromoendoscope allows researchers to access into internal organs of live animals to capture real time images and videos and to collect tissue samples.

When an area of interest is identified, the confocal laser endomicroscope can be used to visualize tissues at cellular or subcellular level and to examine the histopathology of the tissues in real time. This new system offers unparalleled imaging of pathology that will support our research into several diseases at the MRC.
